I Moved to the Desert During a Pandemic.

In June of 2020, I put my 3 year old in his car seat, his Great Pyrenees puppy next to him, and our Blue Heeler in the front passenger seat. The trunk was stuffed with our luggage and the largest diaper bag I have ever packed. It had to carry me through 4 nights and 5 days and with the amount of training pants, wipes, snacks and water inside, it did. My husband drove a 20 ft moving truck, accompanied by our German Shepherd; together we drove in this chaotic caravan from Virginia to the High Mojave Desert of California. We crossed rivers, drove through endless fields of giant windmills, and over the largest mountains we had ever seen. It was an incredible American journey and the starting point of our new life.
